Indications and Dosage
Rectal
Haemorrhoids
Adult: As cream containing lidocaine hydrochloride 2% and tribenoside 5%: Apply bid, reduced to once daily subsequently. As suppository containing lidocaine 40 mg and tribenoside 400 mg: Insert 1 suppository bid until discomfort is relieved, then reduced to once daily.
Special Precautions
Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy, avoid during 1st trimester. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Burning sensation, mild pain, increased bowel motility, rash.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Tribenoside is used in inflammatory conditions e.g. in haemorrhoids while lidocaine is an amide local anaesthetic with immediate duration of action.
